Over $600M in token unlocks, led by AVAIL, VELO, and VENOM, will hit markets in August 2025, sparking volatility and investor caution.

A massive $600 million wave of token unlocks is set to hit the crypto market in the final week of August 2025, according to KuCoin. Heavy releases from AVAIL, VELO, and VENOM headline the event, alongside unlocks from projects like ID, H, SAHARA, and RESOLV. While these inflows boost liquidity and project funding, they often spark volatility and investor anxiety over short-term price pressure.
Token unlocks inflate circulating supply, which can depress prices if demand lags. AVAIL and VELO, with high-volume releases, may drive late-August volatility across exchanges like and Gate.
History offers caution: VENOM’s June 2025 unlock of 59.26M tokens sparked a short-lived dip before stabilizing with higher trading activity. A repeat could create short-term risks and potential buying opportunities for investors.
Unlocks can destabilize markets short term, but they also fund long-term development through community incentives and partnerships.
With capital already competing across SOL, AVAX, and other majors, execution through 2026 will determine whether these tokens gain lasting traction or fade amid oversupply.
