OriginTrail Upbit listing sends TRAC up 95% as KRW, BTC and USDT trading pairs open on South Korea’s largest crypto exchange.
Author: Kritika Gupta
18th May 2026- OriginTrail ($TRAC) surged as much as 95% within hours after South Korea’s Upbit announced new TRAC trading pairs against KRW, BTC, and USDT. The token briefly touched $0.6235 before cooling toward the $0.45 to $0.50 range, according to market data. The move followed Upbit’s May 18 listing notice, which confirmed trading support for TRAC from 16:00 KST, or 7:00 UTC.
The listing gave OriginTrail direct exposure to one of Asia’s most active crypto trading markets. More importantly, the KRW pair gave South Korean traders fiat access to TRAC without requiring a stablecoin or BTC conversion first.
High Signal Summary For A Quick Glance
On May 18, 2026, Upbit launched OriginTrail ($TRAC) trading across KRW, BTC, and USDT markets. The exchange scheduled trading for 16:00 KST, or 7:00 UTC, and announced support through its official channels. As a result, Korean traders gained direct access to TRAC through a local fiat pair, while global traders also received BTC and USDT market access on the platform.
This marked OriginTrail’s first listing on Upbit. TRAC had already traded on global exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken, MEXC, and other centralized platforms, but it had not previously secured a listing on South Korea’s largest crypto exchange. Therefore, the Upbit listing represented a materially different event because it opened TRAC to a large Korean retail trading base and added a direct KRW liquidity route.
Traders reacted immediately. Yahoo Finance historical data showed TRAC opening near $0.3270 on May 18 and reaching an intraday high of $0.6235, while 24-hour volume jumped to more than $40.9 million. That price action reflected classic exchange-listing behavior: fast repricing, aggressive speculative demand, arbitrage activity, and then profit-taking after the first liquidity wave.
The OriginTrail Upbit listing created three clear market effects. First, it expanded TRAC’s liquidity base by adding KRW, BTC, and USDT pairs on a major Asian exchange. Second, it gave Korean traders a direct fiat entry point into OriginTrail, which reduced friction and widened access. Third, it pushed TRAC back into the AI and data-infrastructure narrative at a time when traders continue to reward crypto projects linked to verifiable data, knowledge graphs, and AI-ready infrastructure.
However, the rally also showed typical listing-event risk. TRAC moved quickly from the $0.32 to $0.35 zone into a high near $0.62, then cooled as early buyers took profits. That kind of reversal does not invalidate the listing catalyst, but it does show how fast liquidity-driven moves can unwind once the initial announcement premium fades.
The Upbit listing raises OriginTrail’s market visibility, especially in South Korea, but the next phase depends on sustained demand rather than the announcement alone. If KRW liquidity remains active, TRAC could benefit from deeper order books.
At the same time, OriginTrail still needs project-level catalysts beyond exchange access. The market will likely watch adoption of its Decentralized Knowledge Graph, and new AI-data use cases.
Therefore, the listing gives TRAC a stronger distribution channel, but long-term momentum still depends on real usage, and whether traders continue to value blockchain-based data provenance as part of the AI infrastructure stack.
