@arkham Wow, that's a massive loss. Hope it recovers.

High attention and emotional sentiment detected.
On-chain trackers caught the wipeout in real time. Lookonchain flagged a full liquidation at about 02:33 UTC on 15 October. Arkham followed hours later with its own snapshot and a blunt question: can he make it back?
The losses hit a well-tracked Hyperliquid address tied to machibigbrother.eth. Arkham, Lookonchain, and Hypurrscan all label the wallet as his.
Lookonchain reported that his equity fell to about $21.8K after the overnight cascade. Hours later, Arkham posted that the same book was worth $12.65 million three weeks earlier and had dropped to $19.8K.
The two figures differ slightly. That gap reflects different snapshot times, not a dispute over what happened. Both trackers describe the same event.
Ethereum did the damage. Hyperliquid force-closes leveraged positions once margin runs out, so a falling market can erase a big account in slices. As ETH broke through the $2,400s into the low $2,300s, those forced closes stacked up fast.
The on-chain record shows the damage in stages. Hyperliquid closed several hundred ETH in long positions around the $2,331 to $2,380 range before the account thinned out. Each forced sale locked in losses and pushed his margin lower.
The scale of the drawdown is what caught the market’s attention. According to Lookonchain, Machi turned just $56K into $12.25 million over about four months of trading.
Then the whole run unwound in a single night. By the time ETH stabilized, his tracked equity sat in the low tens of thousands. Lookonchain called it a roller coaster, and the numbers fit the ride.
This is not new territory for him. Huang trades high leverage on Hyperliquid often, and he has absorbed hundreds of liquidations over the years. The community nickname says it plainly: the King of Liquidations.
He arrives with a résumé far outside crypto, too. Huang co-founded the 1990s group L.A. Boyz, later built Machi Entertainment, and helped launch the streaming platform 17 Media. In crypto he is known for the Mithril token and Cream Finance. He also holds a large Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, which he has sold into to fund margin.
The Hyperliquid perps account linked to 0x020ca66c30bec2c4fe3861a94e4db4a498a35872 and machibigbrother.eth rose to roughly $12.65M–$12.91M in equity in late September 2026 before a mid-October liquidation cascade reduced its remaining equity to around $20,000.
Arkham snapshots show account equity of approximately $12.65M–$12.91M. On 23 September, the account held roughly $132M in leveraged longs, including $87.3M in ETH, $27.4M in BTC and $17.5M in HYPE. The ETH position had been open since August and was previously underwater.
Account equity fluctuates while large leveraged longs, often reported at 10–25x, remain open. Earlier snapshots showed equity around $6M against a $151M long position, followed by further position reductions, partial closes and reported near-liquidation episodes as ETH weakened.
ETH falls from around $2,500 toward $2,300–$2,350, triggering forced closes of large leveraged longs. Lookonchain reports the account’s full liquidation after a multi-month recovery from roughly $56K to a reported $12.25M peak. The exact intra-night liquidation timestamps require explorer confirmation.
Arkham reports approximately $19.8K in equity and a remaining ETH long worth around $752K against roughly $19.8K in margin. Other tracker coverage reports a subsequent re-entry into an approximately 290 ETH position at around 25x leverage, after the main liquidation event.
Hypurrscan or Hyperliquid’s explorer can help verify the precise liquidation sequence and residual position sizes. Reported peak equity differs by source: Lookonchain cites approximately $12.25M, while Arkham snapshots show roughly $12.65M–$12.91M.
Here is the twist. Rather than walk away, he reopened a leveraged ETH long almost immediately.
Secondary reports from CoinCentral and Hyperbot describe the re-entry. About 25 minutes after the wipeout, he opened a 25x long of roughly 290 ETH. The reported liquidation price sat near $2,324, uncomfortably close to spot.
Arkham also noted a remaining position in his snapshot. It pegged one ETH long worth about $752K backed by only $19.8K of margin. That implies extreme effective leverage, well north of 30x depending on the mark.
So a modest further dip could close the remnant entirely. Survival, for now, depends on ETH holding above that liquidation line or on fresh margin arriving.
Hyperliquid runs perpetual futures, which are leveraged contracts with no expiry. Traders post collateral, usually USDC, to back a much larger position.
At 25x, the math is unforgiving. A roughly 4% move against the position can exhaust the margin and trigger liquidation. The protocol then force-closes the trade, often in pieces, to protect the system.
A $12 million account carrying tens of millions in ETH notional has little buffer once price turns. Funding costs and successive partial liquidations drain equity quickly. “Hyperliquidated” is simply the community pun for getting wiped out on this venue.
His account did not fall in isolation. The overnight slide triggered a broad deleveraging across crypto.
Data aggregators including Coinglass put total liquidations near $900 million to $1 billion over the relevant 24-hour windows. Longs drove more than 90% of that figure.
Ethereum longs alone accounted for roughly $265 million to $286 million in several snapshots. That made ETH the largest single-asset contributor in multiple reports. Machi Big Brother was liquidated inside that wave, just more visibly than most.
For now, the tracked Hyperliquid book tells only part of the story. Nobody knows whether Huang holds other wallets or how much margin he can still deploy.
He has not posted a direct response to this specific wipeout. His recent activity on X points instead to a project he calls Papertrade, which some users contrasted with the very real money lost here.
Traders can watch the live position on Hypurrscan or Arkham for the latest state. Equity and leverage shift with every fill. If his pattern holds, another attempt to climb back is likely already underway. This article is not financial advice, and 25x leverage can erase an account in minutes.
