November 28, 2025 – Firo has issued its final reminder for users to migrate legacy Lelantus V1.0 coins ahead of the upcoming shutdown of the protocol. Announced on November 28, the Firo Lelantus V1 Closure marks the end of support for the privacy system introduced in 2021 and completes Firo’s multi-year transition toward Lelantus Spark, its next-generation zero-knowledge privacy stack.
The redemption window officially ends at block height 1,223,500 estimated around December 20–21 after which Lelantus V1.0 coins become permanently unredeemable.
The Firo Lelantus V1 Closure affects only users who anonymized funds using the original Lelantus protocol before January 18, 2024. Coins minted after that date, exchange-held balances, or BEP-FIRO on Binance Smart Chain are not impacted. Firo’s team has emphasized user education over urgency, noting that no new issues or controversies have surfaced; the priority is ensuring that legacy holders do not lose access to funds as the network modernizes.
Community sentiment around the Firo Lelantus V1 Closure has been steady and mostly positive. Firo’s announcement post drew modest engagement with users asking clarifying questions instead of expressing concerns.
The broader Firo ecosystem has been highlighting Spark’s capabilities throughout November, reinforcing confidence in the transition. Recent posts emphasize the superior privacy guarantees of Spark and the advantages of using native FIRO over BEP-FIRO for full anonymity.
While FIRO’s market price showed no major volatility following the announcement, analysts note that the closure signals the final step toward consolidating Firo’s privacy ecosystem. With privacy tokens facing evolving regulatory expectations, Spark’s unified anonymity pool is seen as a more future-ready framework.
Despite the smooth rollout, the primary risk surrounding the Firo Lelantus V1 Closure is user inaction. Any V1.0 coins left unmigrated beyond block 1,223,500 will be permanently inaccessible, with no extensions planned.
Some privacy advocates have questioned whether Spark’s enhanced feature set may introduce new complexities for casual users. Additionally, wallet fragmentation remains a minor concern, as some third-party wallets offer only partial support for Spark.
However, no vulnerabilities or forks related to the migration have been reported, and earlier 2025 updates including v0.14.13.1delivered stability and security improvements.
At the heart of the closure is Spark’s technical evolution. Unlike V1.0, Spark provides full sender, receiver, and amount privacy while also supporting privacy-enabled tokens such as stablecoins or NFTs within the same anonymity pool.
Migration is streamlined: the Firo QT wallet now displays a dedicated “Click Here” button for redemption, followed by a one-time wallet unlock to activate Spark.
With Firo moving toward decentralized bridges and Spark-based asset issuance, the Firo Lelantus V1 Closure positions the project to expand its role as a ZK-powered privacy hub.
