Aave Will Win proposal passes, shifting all revenue to DAO and strengthening $AAVE token utility and ecosystem control.
Author: Akshat Thakur
13th April 2026 – Aave governance has passed the “Aave Will Win” proposal with a landslide majority. The vote routes 100% of all future application and product revenue to the DAO treasury.

@StaniKulechov @aave Rev flow fractionalised to AAVE holders directly as dividend payout (or equivalent) too or not the scope of this proposal?
Aave Will Win, the most important proposal in Aave's history just passed with a landslide. Here's the master plan going forward: General Direction - Aave becomes fully token-centric: one asset, one model: $AAVE - To date, protocol revenue per AIP-1 has accumulated to the Aave

@StaniKulechov @ChainLinkGod Aave is doing what most protocols are too fragmented, too political, or too weak to do. One token. One brand. One value loop. Less leakage, more ownership, more control.

Steady attention without excessive speculation.
Founder and CEO Stani Kulechov announced the result on X on April 12. He called it the most important proposal in the protocol’s history.
Kulechov also laid out a comprehensive roadmap. It shifts Aave toward a single-token, fully integrated model centered on $AAVE. The proposal had cleared earlier temperature checks before this weekend’s final on-chain vote.
The roots of this vote trace back to late 2025. Swap fees were quietly redirected away from the DAO treasury. That triggered months of friction between Aave Labs, service providers, and token holders.
The dispute centered on value leakage. Revenue from Aave-branded tools was not flowing to $AAVE holders. Community members argued that external entities were benefiting from the protocol’s growth instead.
In 2025, protocol-only revenue hit $140 million. That figure surpassed the combined total of the three prior years. Yet not all Aave-generated income reached the treasury. Frustration built through governance forums and social media over several months.
Income from every Aave product now routes directly to the DAO. The list includes Aave Pro, the consumer-facing Aave App, and Horizon, which is the RWA-focused vertical. It also covers Aave Kit for enterprise integrations and all Aave-branded swap interfaces.
Swap revenue alone already contributes $10 to $20 million per year. This sits on top of the existing $140 million protocol baseline as additive revenue.
Aave V4’s built-in reinvestment feature adds another layer. It generates yield on idle float capital inside liquidity pools. New V4 Spokes will also open fresh collateral types across multiple chains.
Aave Labs committed in writing to work exclusively on Aave-related products. That eliminates any parallel business lines going forward.
Key milestones in Aave and the “Aave Will Win” Proposal
Aave debuts on Ethereum, introducing a DAO-driven lending model where interest and liquidation fees flow directly to token holders.
Through multiple upgrades, Aave scales into the largest DeFi lending protocol by TVL while maintaining a DAO-first revenue model.
Aave generates $140M in protocol revenue, but fee redirection from branded products sparks internal conflict over value leakage.
“Aave Will Win” is drafted to enforce full revenue capture, routing all product and application income into the DAO treasury.
Proposal passes with strong majority, establishing a single-token model, DAO-controlled IP, and strict no-leakage rules across all Aave products.
Kulechov framed the shift around token ownership. “If you own $AAVE, you own not just the economic rights of the protocol, but the brand, the users, and the integrations,” he wrote on X.
The proposal creates a community-governed vehicle to own the Aave brand. That vehicle also covers intellectual property and user integrations. Token holders, not external entities, now control the full vertical stack.
Governance guardrails are strict. The framework bans vendor lock-ins. It enforces zero tolerance for relationship gating or value leakage. Every service provider faces measurable goals and a mandate that prioritizes execution.
Aave already operates through licensed entities in multiple jurisdictions. Push Virtual Assets Ireland holds authorization as a CASP under MiCA. A UK EMI-licensed vehicle handles fiat-related operations.
Plans call for global expansion to support seamless fiat on-ramps. These licensed entities give Aave a head start over competitors that lack regulatory infrastructure.
Risk management stays multi-layered. Aave Labs coordinates an internal risk function. External partners such as Llama Risk and Token Logic provide additional oversight. The proposal reinforces accountability across all providers.
Kulechov described a multi-year journey toward traditional finance. He referenced the $400 trillion global asset base as the addressable market. Capturing meaningful share remains aspirational at this stage.
The Aave Will Win proposal resolves the biggest point of contention since late 2025. DeFi protocols have long talked about aligning incentives. Most have struggled with fragmented revenue streams and governance disputes.
Aave’s move consolidates economic control under one asset. It removes the ability for any lab or provider to redirect value. In a market where lending is increasingly commoditized, that creates a competitive moat.
The distribution layer now spans consumer onboarding through the Aave App. Enterprise tools come through Aave Kit. Real-world asset pipelines run through Horizon. A debit card is planned for later rollout, and per-user account protection reaches $1 million.
The proposal also signals regulatory readiness to institutions. Aave maintains self-custody at its core while operating through licensed entities. That balance has eluded many competing DeFi projects.
$AAVE rallied more than 5% in the hours after the announcement. The move erased the prior week’s losses. It reflected renewed conviction in the token’s upside capture.
The immediate priority is operationalizing the revenue redirection. Income from Aave Pro, the upcoming mobile app, and Horizon expansions needs to flow to the treasury. New V4 Spokes will also contribute.
On the engineering side, V3 will continue receiving full maintenance. V4 serves as the foundation for agentic AI integrations and next-generation lending primitives. Governance improvements are slated for the coming months.
Service providers that align with the no-leakage mandate will retain budget support. Those that do not will face opposition from the DAO.
Kulechov set a $1 trillion protocol target as the long-term goal. Execution will determine whether that ambition becomes reality. For now, the foundation is set. One token, one brand, one treasury.
