My dad once had to explain to me why sending money could take 3-5 business days. I remember realizing how crazy that was. We can move info around the world instantly, but moving value still depends on banking hours, intermediaries, and where your money happens to exist. What https://t.co/JzyDgNHcs0

High attention and emotional sentiment detected.
This is not a new native Tether coin on Stellar. Instead, USDT0 is a LayerZero token backed 1:1 by real USDT locked on Ethereum. So the dollars are the same, but the plumbing underneath is very different.
USDT0 is the omnichain representation of Tether’s USDT. It runs on LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard, and Everdawn Labs operates it under license from Tether.
Because of that structure, Tether issues the collateral but does not run the day-to-day token. The distinction matters for anyone weighing the risks, and we return to it below.
On-chain, the asset predates the announcement. According to StellarExpert, the first transaction landed on 21 July 2026, weeks before the public launch. New trustlines then clustered around the 14:00 UTC announcement window.
The USDT0 announcement claimed that “$180B+ USDT liquidity is now accessible” on Stellar. That figure needs unpacking, because three very different numbers are in play here.
First, USDT’s global market cap sat near $183.3 billion on launch day. Second, USDT0’s own circulating supply across all chains was roughly $3.3 to $4.1 billion. Third, and most importantly, the amount actually minted on Stellar was tiny.
StellarExpert lists the official asset at 2,558,623 USDT0, or about $2.56 million. That is the usable float on Stellar at launch, not $180 billion.
In other words, the $180 billion figure describes addressable market and routing options, not dollars sitting in Stellar wallets. Dave Finances made the same point, calling early Stellar supply a rounding error against Tether’s float.
USDT0 uses a lock-and-mint design rather than a liquidity pool. A user or market maker locks native USDT in an Ethereum OFT Adapter. Then an equal amount of USDT0 mints on the destination chain.
To move USDT0 off a chain, the contract burns it on the source and mints it on the destination. As a result, one unified supply travels across every connected network. The canonical collateral vault sits at Ethereum address 0x6C96dE32CEa08842dcc4058c14d3aaAD7Fa41dee.
Messaging runs on LayerZero V2, and USDT0 advertises a 3-of-3 DVN attestation for cross-chain verification. On Stellar itself, the token exists as a classic asset plus a Soroban contract, with clawback and revocable flags enabled.
The Stellar Development Foundation named a broad launch roster. It includes Kraken, Freighter, Lobstr, Meru, Bitget, Fireblocks, BiLira Kripto, Kredete, Ramp Network, and SushiSwap, with Exodus said to be coming online soon.
That lineup fits Stellar’s pitch as a payments rail. The network settles transactions in about 5.7 seconds, and its base fee runs near a tiny fraction of a cent. Consequently, USDT0 slots neatly into remittance and on-ramp use cases.
USDT0 also joins an increasingly crowded Stellar stablecoin shelf. Circle’s USDC has run on Stellar since 2021, and PayPal’s PYUSD arrived in September 2025. So Tether’s dollar lands late, but into a market that clearly wants stablecoin rails.
Still, the fee slogans deserve a caveat. Base fees are genuinely microscopic, yet trustline reserves, path-payment spreads, and fiat on and off-ramp costs all sit on top. The headline speed is real, but it is not the whole bill.
Key milestones in USDT0’s omnichain expansion
USDT0 debuts on Kraken’s Ink network using LayerZero’s OFT standard, with Berachain and MegaETH identified as early expansion targets.
USDT0 introduces a system for connecting native USDT liquidity from networks such as Ethereum, Tron and TON to its omnichain mesh.
The network rolls out across ecosystems including Sei, Solana, Rootstock, Hedera, Tempo, Plasma and Stable.
USDT0 reaches more than $100 billion in cumulative transfers, with roughly $4.1 billion circulating across about 23 native deployments.
Stellar explorer data records the first USDT0 transaction on the network before the public launch announcement.
The public rollout connects Stellar to USDT0’s unified cross-chain liquidity system and its USDT-backed supply.
Watch for deeper wallet, exchange and DeFi integrations, along with growth in Stellar-based USDT0 supply and active payment liquidity.
Holders of USDT0 on Stellar take on a stacked set of risks. They carry Tether’s reserve risk, plus the Ethereum lockbox risk, plus LayerZero’s messaging risk, plus Everdawn’s operational risk. A single lockbox bug could hit every chain at once.
The timing adds context, too. Protos reported in August 2026 that LayerZero lost several partners after a security incident tied to a 1-of-1 DVN setup. USDT0’s current 3-of-3 configuration is stricter than the setups that failed, and the project cites multiple audits plus a $6 million Immunefi bounty.
The Stellar asset flags also matter. Clawback and revocable controls are normal for regulated stablecoins, and USDC uses similar tools. However, they mean USDT0 on Stellar is not unstoppable cash, so users should know the issuer retains control. None of this is financial advice.
The real test now is inventory. So far, DefiLlama does not list USDT0 under Stellar stablecoins, where Ondo’s USDY and Circle’s USDC still lead a roughly $879 million market.
Watch three things over the coming weeks. First, how much USDT0 Kraken, Bitget, and Fireblocks actually seed into Stellar wallets and DEX books. Second, whether tier-one desks pick up the story. Third, whether the on-chain supply climbs from millions toward something that matches the marketing.
For now, the launch is real and the partners are real. Yet the dollars on Stellar remain a rounding error of Tether’s float, and that gap is the story to watch.
