@SolanaFloor @solana 263,000 in a day is about three per second. The number worth printing next to it is how many are still trading in a week, because on the big launchpads roughly 1 percent ever graduate to a real pool.

High attention and emotional sentiment detected.
The figure is a fresh all-time high. It nearly doubles the previous record of 135,000, which SolanaFloor flagged only two weeks earlier. Still, the headline number hides a much harder truth about what these Solana token launches really are.
The record comes from Solscan’s “New SPL tokens” chart. That series counts every new mint account created on Solana in a day. It is not a tally of tradable coins or funded projects.
On Solana, a token is just a mint account. Creating one writes a few fields on-chain and costs a fraction of a dollar. So a single wallet can spin up thousands of mints in a loop.
That is why 263,000 dwarfs the launchpad numbers for the same day. Data site MemeFees counted about 33,800 pump.fun launches on September 9. The rest of the 263,000 are largely bot mints, wrappers, and spam.
SolanaFloor also did not publish an exact integer, only “more than 263,000.” No independent dashboard confirmed a matching print at the time of writing. Treat the record as SolanaFloor’s reading of Solscan, not an audited count.
Context makes the spike look even sharper. Back in mid-July, Dune data pegged daily Solana token creation at roughly 44,000 to 70,000. So the September print runs about four to six times that baseline.
The climb has been fast. SolanaFloor called 135,000 the daily record on August 27. Two weeks later that mark is history.
pump.fun still drives most of the launchpad flow. Yet the wider mint count keeps outrunning any single platform, which points to heavy automated issuance across the network.
Here is where the record loses its shine. Most new tokens never gain real liquidity or a tradable market.
pump.fun’s lifetime graduation rate sits below 2%, according to data cited by Solana Compass. One large study of a May to June cohort found just 0.198% graduated within 24 hours.
Run that math against 263,000 mints. Even a generous 1% to 2% survival rate implies only about 2,600 to 5,300 tokens with any real market. The rest are effectively empty.
The creators are not 263,000 founders, either. One measurement essay by Alchemii found that a median new-token wallet already held 48 prior mints. One deployer had minted nearly 174,000 tokens over time.
A record issuance day did not lift the price. SOL closed around $101.57 on September 9, down from $103.36 the day before, per CoinGecko.
The token still trades well below last year. SOL sits roughly 53% under its level of a year ago, near $217 at that time.
Network activity stayed healthy on other metrics. DefiLlama showed recent Solana DEX volume near $2.4 billion and daily fees around $17.85 million. Yet none of that turned the mint record into a price catalyst.
Reaction landed in two camps almost instantly. Bulls read the record as proof that attention and flow keep landing on Solana first.
Skeptics pushed back hard. Nick Martin, founder of a crypto payments firm, argued that the launches are noise while a large USDC mint the same day is the real signal. In his words, none of these tokens ever show up at a merchant checkout.
One reply under the original post captured the mood with dark humor. It joked that the record probably meant “at least 24 migrated coins.” The number is a joke, but the order of magnitude is not far off.
The mint crown also comes with a caveat on revenue. If the metric is fees rather than raw count, Solana’s lead gets shakier.
In a September 10 MemeFees snapshot, Robinhood Chain’s Pons launchpad out-earned every Solana pad combined on fees. Pons pulled roughly $5.91 million against about $2.85 million across Solana venues.
Within Solana itself, the newer FOMO pad led 24-hour launchpad fees at about $1.78 million. pump.fun trailed at roughly $1.41 million. So “Solana wins token creation” depends heavily on which number you pick.
The open question is conversion, not volume. Watch how many of the September 9 mints still trade with real liquidity a week later.
Also watch for any official comment. No Solana Foundation or founder-level confirmation of the 263,000 record had appeared at the time of writing.
For now, the record says more about cheap block space than about adoption. Solana token launches are booming, but a mint is not a market. This article is not financial advice, so treat any launchpad token as high risk and do your own research.
