SingularityNET, the decentralized AI platform, announced its integration of Filecoin using Lighthouse, marking the first phase in a broader effort to secure decentralized storage solutions for AI development. This initiative, in partnership with Filecoin Foundation, brings added storage transparency and resilience to the platform as part of a commitment to open and democratic artificial intelligence.
In July 2024, SingularityNET and Filecoin Foundation confirmed a partnership aimed at aligning AI and DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure network) goals. Both organizations, alongside data onboarding provider Lighthouse, have worked together to incorporate Filecoin’s permanent storage capabilities within SingularityNET’s AI tools. As a founding member of the Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance, SingularityNET views this partnership as essential for promoting decentralized AI, an ethical and accessible model for developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
This first integration stage brings Python SDK, Command Line Interface (CLI), and Daemon into SingularityNET’s ecosystem, with plans to expand support to JavaScript SDK, Text User Interface (TUI), Publisher Portal, and Marketplace in the coming months. Lighthouse’s storage infrastructure, built on Filecoin and IPFS, offers decentralized data permanence tailored to SingularityNET’s need for scalability, cost-effectiveness, and security.
As Dr. Ben Goertzel, founder of SingularityNET, notes, the platform seeks an inclusive, decentralized AGI ecosystem unbound by central authorities. This collaboration supports a critical aspect of that vision: ensuring secure, transparent AI development infrastructure.
Lighthouse offers flexible, pay-per-use pricing, enabling SingularityNET users to purchase storage subscriptions directly on Filecoin. Once integrated, users will be able to leverage Filecoin’s decentralized storage model for metadata and service files, supporting a range of applications and services within the AI ecosystem.
SingularityNET will demonstrate these new capabilities for the community, detailing usage of Filecoin’s decentralized storage alongside its existing IPFS infrastructure. This integration supports the Alliance’s commitment to decentralized AI, safeguarding AGI development through a democratic, open-access model.
As SingularityNET builds upon this milestone, it signals continued support for decentralized AI, ensuring that advanced AI technologies, including AGI, remain accessible, transparent, and beneficial to all. For updates, follow SingularityNET on X @SingularityNET.
Founded by Dr. Ben Goertzel, SingularityNET aims to create a decentralized, democratic AGI accessible to everyone, free from centralized influence. Its team, comprising engineers, researchers, and experts across various fields, advances AGI in robotics, biomedical AI, finance, and more.
The Filecoin Foundation oversees the Filecoin network, supporting the preservation of crucial information through decentralized storage solutions. Filecoin’s network leverages incentives and cryptographic security for reliable, long-term file storage.
Built on Filecoin and IPFS, Lighthouse offers secure, permanent storage, moving users from cloud-based rent models to perpetual decentralized storage for AI, NFTs, and more.
