7th October 2026- Robinhood has added about $25 million of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, according to a senior executive. No filing or press release confirms the buy yet.
High Signal Summary For A Quick Glance
The claim came from Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s SVP and GM of crypto. He spoke on The Block’s show “The Starting Block” at Digital Asset Summit Asia. The outlet published the remarks on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Kerbrat framed the purchase as alignment with the crypto community, not a strategy shift. “We care deeply about bitcoin and the ecosystem around it,” he said.
He also played down the size. Robinhood carries a market cap near $100 billion, so $25 million barely moves the company. “The $25 million worth of bitcoin is not going to change a lot,” Kerbrat said.
For now, the coins are simply held. BitcoinTreasuries.net, citing the same interview, noted the firm is “just holding” the assets while it weighs future uses.
Here is the catch. The $25 million figure comes from an interview, not from a corporate disclosure. Robinhood has not issued a press release, an 8-K, or an earnings note on any purchase.
CoinDesk reported that it contacted Robinhood’s press team. The company had not confirmed the buy. CEO Vlad Tenev has not posted about it either.
The exact bitcoin amount also stays private. BitcoinTreasuries.net estimates roughly 294 BTC, based on a weekly average near $84,960. It labels that figure an estimate pending a filing.
So the “first corporate buy” language is Kerbrat’s framing, repeated by others. It fits prior management comments. Still, no Robinhood Bitcoin treasury position appears in any public document so far.
Hours after the interview, Arkham posted “ROBINHOOD IS BUYING.” It attached its Robinhood entity dashboard. The screenshots show a portfolio near $24.4 billion, including about 185,199 BTC.
That pile is not the treasury buy. Instead, it is overwhelmingly customer custody, meaning coins Robinhood holds for users who own them. On October 1, Arkham itself labeled about $24.96 billion across Robinhood wallets as largely customer funds.
Crypto Briefing made the same point. It stressed that the multibillion-dollar pile belongs to customers, not to Robinhood’s own treasury. No transaction hash for a discrete $25 million corporate lot appears in the tweet.
Arkham builds entities by clustering addresses that act like one owner. Verified labels carry high confidence. Entity predictions stay probabilistic, though, so they can blend customer wallets with any house wallet.
In short, the aggregate dashboard and the claimed $25 million buy are two different things. Mixing them up is the main error circulating this week.
Even if accurate, $25 million is tiny. It equals about 0.025% of a roughly $100 billion market cap. So the move reads as a signal, not a balance-sheet driver.
Markets did not treat it as bullish either. Bitcoin traded near $83,771 on October 7, down about 3% on the session, according to Yahoo Finance data. The slide came amid a broader risk-off mood.
HOOD stock also slipped. The shares closed Tuesday at $112.00, down 1.85%, then eased further in Wednesday premarket trade. Meanwhile, Barclays raised its HOOD price target to $132 from $105.
By comparison, Strategy bought 334 BTC for about $28.7 million between October 1 and October 4. That firm reports count, cost, and average price in SEC filings. Robinhood has not met that disclosure bar here.
Corporate Bitcoin holdings compared as of October 7, 2026
*Peer values use a common BTC reference price of $83,557. Holdings reflect the latest disclosures available by October 7, 2026. Robinhood’s $25M figure comes from an executive interview; its exact BTC count, purchase date and cost basis remain undisclosed.
On X, the dominant read was “signal, not size.” Engagement on the Arkham post stayed modest, with about 128 likes and roughly 27,400 views when captured.
Retail accounts mostly treated the news as bullish branding. More market-aware traders called it immaterial, and several flagged the missing filing. So the split mirrors the wider debate this week.
Robinhood has circled a bitcoin treasury for years without committing. Back in December 2024, Tenev said holding bitcoin “comes up from time to time.” Still, he added the firm had not held BTC as an investment.
Then in November 2025, incoming finance chief Shiv Verma said a treasury was still under debate. “Is it the best use of our capital? We’re still thinking about it,” he said after strong Q3 results.
The company has leaned harder into crypto elsewhere. It closed its $200 million Bitstamp acquisition in 2025. It also launched Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based layer 2, in July 2026.
The real test is Robinhood’s next 10-Q. A filing would list the coins, their cost, and a purchase date. Until then, the $25 million stays an oral disclosure, not a verified Robinhood Bitcoin treasury.
Watch for three things. A formal statement from Robinhood would help. So would a new wallet Arkham can isolate, or a stated pace from Kerbrat. So far, none of that exists.
For readers, the takeaway is simple. A small, unconfirmed buy is a branding move, not a treasury pivot. This article is not financial advice.
