The Pudgy Penguins mystery box redemption follows a Black Friday 2025 drop where 7,245 NFTs were minted at $99.99. Holders can now redeem for a physical box with exclusive merch by September 1, 2026, or burn it for a soulbound token by March 4. The move supports the brand’s shift into physical products after its NFT launch in 2021 and PENGU token debut in 2024.
Under CEO Luca Netz, who bought the IP in 2022 for 750 ETH, the project recovered from a floor below 1 ETH to around 4.5 ETH today. Past mystery events, like the 2024 Pudgy Rods drop, boosted engagement but caused short-term volatility. The current launch has led to a small floor price rise and a weekly gain in the PENGU token, though similar past events saw sharp swings before stabilizing.
Key milestones in Pudgy Penguins’ evolution from NFT collection to consumer brand and token ecosystem
Pudgy Penguins mints 8,888 NFTs at 0.03 ETH, selling out rapidly and driving early hype as the floor climbs toward ~3 ETH and rare sales exceed $750K.
After community backlash removes the original founders, entrepreneur Luca Netz acquires Pudgy Penguins’ IP for 750 ETH (~$2.5M), resetting the brand’s strategy.
Following a $9M raise, Pudgy Penguins launches physical toys and reportedly sells ~20,000 units within days, helping sentiment rebound and lifting the NFT floor (peaking around 6.2 ETH).
PENGU launches near $0.0068, spikes to an ATH around $0.05738, then retraces; NFT floor briefly peaks near 36 ETH during the broader momentum wave.
Pudgy Penguins releases 7,245 Mystery Box collectibles at $99.99 each, with secondary prices stabilizing around ~$78–$100 as redemption anticipation builds.
Holders begin redeeming boxes for physical merch (valued at least ~$120) or burning for soulbound tokens, alongside a modest NFT floor uptick (~4.5 ETH) and PENGU rebound (~$0.0068).
The redemption process runs on fixed timelines. Holders can burn their NFT for a soulbound token only until March 4, 2026, while physical item claims remain open until September 1, 2026. After these deadlines, unredeemed options expire.
All redemptions are handled through the official Pudgy platform, and each NFT can be used only once. Once burned or redeemed, it cannot be reversed, permanently changing the asset’s status on-chain.
