April 6th, 2025 – Phala Network has partnered with io.net to enhance the capabilities of decentralized coprocessing. The collaboration allows Phala to leverage over 300,000 decentralized GPUs and CPUs across 130 countries, including high-performance Nvidia H100 and H200 GPUs, creating new opportunities for AI and machine learning developers.
Phala Network, launched in 2021, acts as a decentralized blockchain protocol that functions as a co-processor for decentralized applications (dApps). Using Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), Phala offloads intensive computational tasks like data processing and AI inferences to decentralized TEE nodes. This approach enhances security, scalability, and efficiency, enabling developers to run complex computations off-chain while maintaining data privacy.
Since its inception, Phala has scaled to over 30,000 TEE nodes, contributing to the growth of decentralized applications by providing secure and efficient computing.
The partnership with io.net, announced in September 2024, significantly expands Phala’s capabilities. Through this collaboration, Phala gains access to a vast network of GPU and CPU resources, including cutting-edge models like the Nvidia H100 and H200 GPUs. This enables Phala to handle more demanding computational tasks, especially those required for AI and machine learning applications.
In return, io.net benefits by integrating Phala’s privacy-preserving TEE technology into its network, ensuring that AI and ML developers can access powerful computing resources without compromising data privacy.
One of the most notable benefits of this partnership is the cost-efficiency it brings to decentralized cloud computing. By utilizing io.net’s decentralized infrastructure, Phala can offer GPU processing at a significantly lower cost than traditional centralized cloud providers. This allows Phala to provide more advanced cloud computing services to developers while passing on the savings to users in the AI and ML sectors.
For developers, this makes decentralized computing more accessible, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to accessing secure and scalable computing resources.
The collaboration between Phala and io.net is poised to advance the future of decentralized coprocessing. Both companies continue to expand their networks, driving greater scalability and adoption of decentralized applications. Future plans include joint research, testing, and benchmarking of the latest Nvidia GPU models, which will further enhance the efficiency and performance of the system.
As decentralized applications continue to evolve, the Phala-io.net partnership is at the forefront of providing a cost-effective, secure, and scalable alternative to traditional cloud computing models, particularly for the growing field of decentralized AI.
Phala Network and io.net’s collaboration exemplifies how decentralized technologies can provide privacy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness to developers, ultimately contributing to the growth of the decentralized ecosystem.
