Mantle Super Portal Pauses for Chainlink CCIP Upgrade

What Is Changing for the Mantle Super Portal

Mantle is deprecating its legacy bridge, which previously ran on LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard. In its place, the Mantle Super Portal now adopts Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, known as CCIP. Specifically, it uses the Cross-Chain Token, or CCT, standard.

Mantle and Bybit co-developed the portal, and that collaboration continues through the upgrade. Chainlink confirmed the switch and called CCIP the portal’s exclusive cross-chain infrastructure. It also pegged the migrating MNT value at more than $2.5 billion.

In practice, the CCT standard hands Mantle direct control over its token pools and transfer settings. So the team can tune limits and lane configurations itself. That control was harder to achieve under the older bridge setup.

The Exact Pause Window for MNT Transfers

The pause starts July 9 at 1:00 PM UTC. Mantle expects transfers to resume by July 15, though it has not given a precise restart time. Instead, the team says transfers will come back automatically once the migration completes.

Only Super Portal bridging pauses during this period. Meanwhile, MNT activity on Byreal and Bybit stays live. Trading, holding, and transfers outside the portal continue as normal.

Users do not need to withdraw, wrap, or move anything ahead of the pause. Instead, the team asks holders to simply wait. Once the migration wraps, the portal reopens and pending routes go live again.

MNT traded near $0.41 on announcement day, down roughly 1% to 2% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. So far, the news has not triggered any sharp price move. Daily volume sat around $29 million to $36 million.

Why Mantle Is Leaving LayerZero for CCIP

Security is the headline reason. CCIP verifies cross-chain messages through a Decentralized Oracle Network, a set of independent nodes that relay and confirm transfers. On top of that, a separate Risk Management Network can pause or block suspicious activity.

Emily Bao, a key advisor at Mantle, framed the stakes in an interview with CoinDesk. “As tokenized financial assets move from concept to scale, the infrastructure that carries them across chains cannot be an afterthought,” she said.

The move also builds on earlier groundwork. Mantle first announced its adoption of Chainlink CCIP back in December 2024. So today’s step formalizes a direction the team set more than a year ago.

What Stays Safe During the Migration

Mantle was direct on this point. Your funds stay safe throughout, and no action is required from users. Because balances never move during the swap, the migration should feel invisible once transfers resume.

Existing MNT holdings on Ethereum and Solana remain untouched. Only the bridging function pauses. In other words, the tokens sit exactly where they were before the window opened.

One thing to watch is the new setup itself. Mantle and Chainlink have not yet published the specific CCIP token pool addresses for MNT. Those details should appear in the Chainlink CCIP directory or Mantle docs after service resumes.

Part of a $7.2 Billion Migration to CCIP

Mantle is not moving alone. According to CoinDesk, more than $7.2 billion in value has now shifted from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. Mantle joins a growing list of projects making the same call.

The trend picked up speed after a roughly $292 million exploit at Kelp DAO earlier in 2026. That incident pushed teams to reassess bridge security. Since then, projects like Lombard, Solv, and Kraken have moved to CCIP as well.

Chainlink has branded this wave “The Great Migration.” Still, bridges of any design carry residual risk, so the shift is a security upgrade rather than a guarantee. Analysts frame it as a flight to quality after a rough stretch for cross-chain infrastructure.

What Comes Next for the Mantle Super Portal

For now, the plan is simple. Transfers pause July 9, the migration runs, and the Mantle Super Portal is expected back by July 15. After that, watch for new supported chains and any fee changes, neither of which Mantle has confirmed yet.

MNT holders can track the rollout on the Super Portal interface and Mantle’s official channels. New token pool addresses should surface once the CCT standard goes live. Until then, the safest move is to wait for the official resume notice.
