@machibigbrother @paradigm Respectfully, sir. You can’t even get your own meme above a $1M mcap. What makes you think CTO’ing $FRIEND will be a success?

@machibigbrother @paradigm Pretty smart play. Buy token cheap, pump token, sell token, use profits to buy said token rights. Good luck, I honestly hope you handle this responsibly.

The crypto whale, also known as Jeffrey Huang, timed the post at 04:07 UTC on 27 August 2026. He named the Base token contract directly in the message. Then FRIEND rocketed from a market cap under $300,000 into the millions, according to multiple data feeds.
Machi laid out the pitch in one short post on X. “Friendtech is trading at less than 300k market cap,” he wrote. “I’m offering a 1 mil usd buyout offer to Racer and @paradigm. We can CTO relaunch base:0x0bd4887f7d41b35cd75dff9ffee2856106f86670.” You can read the original post here.
He then fired off several follow-ups the same morning. First, he said he would not sell FRIEND to fund the bid. Later, he added that Paradigm needs the deal “for their reputation.”
Machi also flagged trader Ansem as a must-have partner. Finally, he narrowed the ask: “I just need the X account and url.” So the target moved from the protocol toward the brand within a couple of hours.
Back on 31 July 2026, Machi said he still held 11,000,000 FRIEND. He was waiting for Racer and Paradigm to sell. In short, the Friendtech buyout offer is the loud version of a months-old plan.
The market reaction was immediate and violent. Chinese wires citing GMGN data tracked the cap climbing through $2.2 million, then $6 million, then higher. That surge ran about 70 minutes. BlockBeats clocked a 1,553% gain in a single hour.
The tape cooled fast, though. By later that morning, CoinGecko showed FRIEND near $0.042. Its market cap sat around $3.99 million, up 1,267% on the day. So the first-hour peak had already mean-reverted.
Here is the catch, though. Liquidity across the main pools sat near $380,000 to $600,000, per GeckoTerminal and CoinMarketCap. Against a multi-million cap, that is extremely thin.
Because of that thin float, a sub-$300k token can print 20x moves on modest flow. In other words, this looks like pool impact, not deep price discovery. Traders should treat the peak caps of $6 million to $9 million as fragile intraday prints.
Some coverage framed Machi as suddenly in profit. On-chain data tells a harsher story, however. According to Lookonchain, he spent roughly 5,200 ETH in 2024, about $16.7 million, to buy 11 million FRIEND.
That bag is now worth only about $500,000. As a result, Machi still sits on an unrealized loss north of $16 million versus his cost. The pump barely dents that hole.
So where did the “$1 million floating profit” numbers come from? Those figures measure the gain from the sub-$300k mark, not from his purchase price. That distinction matters, and mixing the two paints a misleading picture.
The timing draws scrutiny too. Blockscan shows Machi moved 11 million FRIEND to a fresh wallet, 0x3205, on 21 August. That was five days before the public bid. Skeptics read the sequence as a setup for the attention that followed.
There is a deeper problem with any Friendtech buyout offer. In September 2024, the Friend.tech team set admin and ownership to the null address. The team framed it as a way to lock fees and functions forever.
You can see the team’s own renouncement post here. Because nobody holds that key now, the change is irreversible. Consequently, no buyer inherits upgrade rights over the old contracts.
Traders piled onto this point fast. One argued the contracts are “basically ungovernable” after the null-address move. Another put it bluntly: you can only CTO the brand, since the smart contracts “are fucked and can’t be changed.”
So what can $1 million actually buy? Realistically, the X handle, the domain, and the narrative. A new team could also deploy fresh contracts and invite holders to migrate. Notably, Machi’s own “I just need the X account and url” line points the same way.
So far, the named counterparties have stayed silent. Neither Racer, Paradigm, nor the Friend.tech account has publicly accepted or rejected the bid. Racer, meanwhile, reportedly deleted or abandoned that X account back in September 2024.
Absence of comment is not a rejection, to be clear. Yet it is also not engagement. As of Thursday morning, no private outreach had surfaced, so the post itself may be the entire offer.
Major English outlets had not covered the story during the early window either. Instead, the reporting came from crypto-native and Chinese wires such as Odaily, Foresight News, and PANews. On-chain figures come from BaseScan, which listed about 83,600 holders.
For now, the Friendtech buyout offer sits as a public dare rather than a signed deal. The next real signal would be any on-chain or public word from Racer or Paradigm. Until then, the story is mostly Machi and a thin, jumpy token.
Watch three things from here. First, whether liquidity deepens or the pump fades. Second, whether a new team ships fresh contracts. Third, whether anyone with the keys, or the brand, actually replies.
None of this is financial advice. FRIEND is a low-liquidity token in a fast, headline-driven move, so risk runs high. Do your own research before acting on any Friendtech buyout offer headline.
