Across Protocol plans to transition from a DAO to a U.S. C-corp structure to enable legal contracts and partnerships.c
Author: Arushi Garg
14th March, 2026 – Across Protocol has posted a temperature-check governance proposal to transition from its pure DAO structure to a U.S. C-corp entity. The founding team Risk Labs initiated the move after four years of growth in cross-chain bridging, citing the DAO’s inability to sign enforceable contracts or close institutional deals, with the ACX token surging up to 85 percent and trading volume tripling within hours of the announcement.

@AcrossProtocol @RiskLabsFDN how do you incentivize growth of the protocol for the longterm without having any onchain incentivization?

Steady attention without excessive speculation.
The current DAO structure has made it difficult for Across Protocol to sign enforceable contracts or secure institutional partnerships, despite four years of growth in cross-chain bridging. Risk Labs, the founding team, has followed a strict token-only model and conducted months of legal and regulatory review before sharing this proposal.
This is the first time Across has considered a DAO-to-U.S. C-corp transition. With no precedent, the market reacted quickly, sending ACX up 85% and more than tripling trading volume.
Key milestones in Across Protocol governance evolution
Across Protocol launches as a pure DAO with Risk Labs as the founding contributor focused on cross-chain bridging infrastructure.
The protocol expands liquidity and integrations across multiple chains while operating fully under DAO governance without a formal legal entity.
Risk Labs conducts months of regulatory and structural analysis to address limitations around enforceable contracts and institutional participation.
Across publishes a temperature-check proposal to transition operational functions to a U.S. C-corp subsidiary structure.
The ACX token rallies up to 85 percent while trading volume surges immediately after the governance announcement.
Token holders participate in the temperature check process that will determine whether the proposal advances to a full governance vote.
The temperature-check proposal envisions a hybrid structure, with a U.S. C-corp acting as a DAO-owned subsidiary handling legal contracts, compliance filings, and institutional onboarding.
The Across DAO retains full control over protocol upgrades, treasury management, and strategic votes, ensuring ACX token holders maintain governance power while the C-corp enables actions that were impossible under the current DAO setup.
