High attention and emotional sentiment detected.
Aave Labs announced the Aave Avon acquisition on November 6. The company bought Avon’s engineering team, its fixed-rate and floating-rate protocols, its onchain order book, and related domains. Notably, the company disclosed no financial terms. The Block confirmed the scope in a statement Aave shared with the outlet.
The deal is a team-and-technology purchase, not a simple hire-and-sunset. So the Avon crew will keep building inside the Aave ecosystem.
Three people joined by name. Avon founder Prince Sinha and Ayush Kaul move to the Aave Labs engineering team. Omar el-Ashaal joins as an associate on business development.
According to Aave, the team will focus first on fixed-rate lending. The acquired tech also includes Avon’s floating-rate markets and its purpose-built order book.
Sinha founded Avon to bring global credit-market structure onchain. PitchBook lists early-stage backers, including Alpen Capital and the Mega Mafia accelerator. Earlier, in April 2026, the startup changed course. It dropped a planned MegaETH deployment. It also began winding down its MegaVault yield product.
Most DeFi lending today runs on variable rates. These rates float with pool utilization, so borrowing costs can spike sharply when demand jumps.
Fixed-rate lending works differently. It locks a set rate for a set period, much like a traditional loan or bond. As a result, borrowers get predictable costs and cleaner cash-flow planning.
That predictability is what institutions and fintechs usually want before they scale. In short, fixed rates match the products these users already rely on in traditional finance.
Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of Aave Labs, framed the deal around that gap. “Aave’s goal is to bring the best of finance to everyone, and that means offering the kinds of products users already rely on, including fixed rates,” he said.
Avon’s standout technology is its onchain order book. The design works a bit like an exchange order book, but for loans.
Here, lenders post offers with specific rates, loan-to-value limits, and terms. Borrowers then take those offers or place their own limit orders.
The protocol isolates risk per strategy rather than pooling it across the whole system. Meanwhile, the system can aggregate rates so matching stays competitive. This structure supports precise interest-rate pricing. It also makes fixed-rate products easier to build.
Prince Sinha said the move extends work his team already started. “We started Avon to bring the depth of global credit markets onchain, and Aave is the best place to continue that work,” he said.
The timing lines up with Aave’s roadmap. Aave V4 launched on Ethereum mainnet around March 2026, and it uses a hub-and-spoke architecture.
Aave designed that model to support more flexible markets. So fixed-rate borrowing and real-world-asset credit can sit alongside the existing pools. The stack already includes Aave Horizon, an institutional product for tokenized real-world assets, plus the GHO stablecoin.
Order-book design, rate pricing, and risk isolation are exactly the skills that fit this model. In other words, the Aave Avon acquisition buys expertise that Aave can slot into V4 over time.
The deal also follows a familiar pattern. Aave Labs acquired consumer savings app Stable Finance in October 2025. It absorbed Sonar in 2022 and Family in 2023.
Avon evolved from an order-book lending project into fixed-rate credit technology, before its team and technology were acquired by Aave Labs on November 6, 2026.
PitchBook lists an Accelerator/Incubator round involving Mega Mafia, marking an early funding milestone for Avon.
The @avon_xyz account was created as the project began building its public presence.
Founder Prince Sinha introduces Avon publicly, outlining its vision for a real-time credit layer built around an onchain lending order book, segmented risk, and deeper credit-market structure.
PitchBook lists an Early Stage VC round involving Alpen Capital / family office and Mega Mafia.
Blackhaven announces a partnership directing deposits from its Haven Protected Notes into Avon’s USDm MegaVault on MegaETH.
Avon adds integrations with MTRKR, PrismFi, and Merkl. Its MegaVault surpasses $1 million in deposits within hours of a February 9 launch window.
Aave launches V4 with a hub-and-spoke architecture, enabling liquidity hubs and independently configured risk markets. Its design supports more flexible lending, including structured credit, fixed-rate borrowing, and tokenized assets.
Avon announces it will not proceed with its MegaETH deployment. The MegaVault is scheduled for an orderly wind-down, with users instructed to withdraw without lock-ups or penalties.
V4 expands to additional environments, including Avalanche, Arc, and Base, alongside curated markets and tokenized-equity initiatives. Deposits exceed $1.5 billion by October 2026, while Horizon and other institutional lending efforts support Aave’s broader adoption strategy.
Aave Labs acquires Avon’s team, fixed- and floating-rate protocols, onchain order book, domains, and related assets. Prince Sinha and Ayush Kaul join engineering, while Omar el-Ashaal joins business development. The initial focus is developing fixed-rate lending technology within the Aave ecosystem. Financial terms are undisclosed.
Watch for Aave Labs updates on integrating Avon’s order-book technology and fixed-rate lending into V4 spokes, new markets, or other Aave product surfaces. No public integration date has been announced.
Potential developments include contract migrations or sunsets, deeper protocol integration, new curated lending markets, and continued V4 and Horizon expansion. These remain items to watch rather than confirmed milestones.
The AAVE token moved modestly on the news. Around the 15:09 UTC announcement, trackers showed the price in the low-to-mid $130s. That marked a gain of roughly 3% to 4% on the day.
That daily gain still sits against a weaker month. According to aggregators, AAVE had fallen more than 20% over the prior 30 days.
Aave itself remains the largest onchain lending network. The company says it holds more than $30 billion in deposits and over $12 billion in active loans. Independent trackers show roughly $28 billion to $29 billion supplied and about $12 billion borrowed.
There is no Avon token, so the deal has no separate asset attached. This was an Aave Labs company transaction, not a DAO governance vote.
Several details remain open. Aave did not share the deal price, the full headcount beyond the three named hires, or a precise integration timeline.
The fate of any standalone Avon markets is also unclear. For now, the team’s stated focus is fixed-rate lending inside Aave.
Still, the direction is plain. The Aave Avon acquisition signals a clear shift. Floating-rate pools alone will not carry Aave to institutional scale. Fixed rates are the next target.
