Steady attention without excessive speculation.
27th April 2026- The Bitmine ETH purchase marks one of the largest recent institutional accumulations in the crypto market. Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), chaired by Thomas Lee, confirmed a purchase of 101,901 ETH last week worth about $236 million. As a result, the company now holds 5,078,386 ETH, which equals roughly 4.21% of the circulating supply. This latest Bitmine ETH purchase highlights the firm’s aggressive treasury strategy and reinforces its long-term conviction in Ethereum.
At the same time, Bitmine’s total crypto and cash holdings reached $13.3 billion. While most corporate treasuries have slowed or paused accumulation, Bitmine continues to buy aggressively. Lee also reiterated his view that Ethereum acts as a “wartime store of value” during periods of geopolitical stress.

Bitmine’s latest purchase follows its June 2025 pivot to make Ethereum its primary reserve asset. Since then, the company has steadily increased its buying pace. Recently, it described current conditions as the final phase of a mini crypto winter, which it sees as an opportunity to accumulate.
Moreover, geopolitical tensions, including the U.S.-Iran conflict, have strengthened this conviction. During this period, Ethereum has outperformed traditional assets like equities and gold in certain windows. Therefore, Bitmine views ETH not only as a speculative asset but also as reliable collateral with growing institutional relevance.
In addition, the firm’s accumulation trend has remained consistent. It purchased 101,627 ETH in the prior week and completed multiple large buys earlier in 2026, including 71,524 ETH, 71,179 ETH, and 65,341 ETH. Consequently, these repeated high-volume acquisitions place Bitmine close to its “Alchemy of 5%” target of total ETH supply.
Following the announcement, BMNR shares traded flat in pre-market activity. Meanwhile, Ethereum prices held steady near $2,317, showing no immediate volatility spike tied directly to the news.
However, Bitmine continues to generate yield from its holdings. Around 3.7 million ETH, or 73% of its portfolio, remains staked through its MAVAN platform. This staking operation produces approximately $264 million in annualized revenue, which strengthens the company’s financial position.
Furthermore, Bitmine maintains about $940 million in cash along with smaller positions in Bitcoin and equities. As a result, the firm retains flexibility despite unrealized losses on its ETH accumulation.
Bitmine now stands as the largest corporate holder of Ethereum, which signals strong institutional conviction. By continuing to buy during periods of uncertainty, the company effectively creates a consistent demand base that may support ETH prices.
At the same time, Lee’s framing of Ethereum as a geopolitical hedge suggests a broader narrative shift. Specifically, the firm links ETH’s value to long-term trends such as tokenization, decentralized finance, and AI-driven blockchain infrastructure.
Looking ahead, analysts will closely watch whether this sustained accumulation influences other institutions. If similar players re-enter the market, Ethereum could strengthen its role as digital collateral and reduce its dependence on traditional risk cycles. For now, Bitmine’s strategy highlights a clear stance: it remains fully committed to Ethereum’s long-term potential.
