YouTube removes Bitcoin.com channel over “harmful” content, raising concerns about censorship and loss of Bitcoin education.

Steady attention without excessive speculation.
9 April, 2026: YouTube has permanently deleted official YouTube channel of Bitcoin.com without any prior warnings or strikes. The platform claimed the decade-old channel’s Bitcoin education, wallet tutorials, and crypto news content was “harmful and dangerous,” despite it having over 100,000 subscribers and serving the community since 2015.
The takedown highlights the growing dependence of crypto companies on centralized platforms for distribution, and the risks that come with it. Sudden moderation actions by major tech companies can disrupt access to educational resources, raising broader questions about platform governance and content policy consistency.

JUST IN: YouTube deletes Bitcoin .com’s YouTube channel, claiming it was “harmful and dangerous”
02:36 PM·Apr 8, 2026
Bitcoin.com, founded in 2014 by early Bitcoin investor Roger Ver (known as “Bitcoin Jesus”), who was charged by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2024 with tax evasion and mail fraud, is one of the oldest and largest cryptocurrency platforms, offering wallets, exchange services, news, and educational content. Its official YouTube channel, active since 2015 with more than 100,000 subscribers, focused exclusively on Bitcoin education, wallet tutorials, market updates, and objective crypto news.
On April 8, 2026, YouTube suddenly terminated the decade-old channel without any prior warnings, strikes, or explanations. The platform cited the content as “harmful and dangerous. The platform cited the content as “harmful and dangerous. It is unclear whether other crypto-related channels were affected as part of the same enforcement action. Bitcoin.com has appealed the decision, but YouTube rejected the appeal.

How the April 8 removal abruptly changed a long-standing Bitcoin education channel
Bitcoin.com was founded by Roger Ver, the early Bitcoin investor widely known as “Bitcoin Jesus,” who has long used the platform to promote Bitcoin education while also openly supporting Bitcoin Cash. The channel’s removal removes a key onboarding resource that had served as an onboarding resource for newcomers to Bitcoin concepts, wallets, and self-custody over the past decade.
This incident fits a growing pattern of major tech platforms tightening moderation policies on cryptocurrency content. Crypto creators and companies are increasingly viewing centralized platforms like YouTube as unreliable for long-term content hosting, accelerating the shift toward decentralized video alternatives and direct community channels on X, Rumble, and self-hosted platforms.
