Hunter Biden Laptop (LAPTOP), a Base-based political memecoin with no product, staking, or governance, fell 97.89% over the past 24 hours to $0.7858, according to CoinMarketCap. Thin launch liquidity, early sniper activity, and aggressive token sales drove the collapse after LAPTOP briefly traded above $190 on September 9, 2026.

A thin-liquidity launch triggered Hunter Biden Laptop decline, rather than a new announcement or adverse project event. Arkham reported that LAPTOP briefly reached a $144 billion fully diluted valuation while its pool held only around $48,000 in liquidity. This imbalance allowed early trades to produce inflated price prints before sellers overwhelmed the available bids.
Lookonchain reported that Wintermute received 2.5 million LAPTOP and sold 466,255 tokens for approximately $2.08 million at an average price of $4.47. Meanwhile, Bubblemaps found that 12,151 of 15,206 traders held unrealized losses after the crash.
Copycat activity added further confusion. Bitquery identified 4,075 LAPTOP contracts across multiple chains, with unofficial versions recording a reported $941 million in volume within 19 hours.
CoinMarketCap recorded $75.91 million in 24-hour trading volume, representing a 6,126.14% increase from its displayed prior period. However, LAPTOP launched only one day ago, so no meaningful seven-day average exists. CoinMarketCap placed its market capitalization at $275.03 million, circulating supply at , and fully diluted valuation at . GeckoTerminal measured approximately in liquidity in the main Uniswap v3 USDC pool. CoinMarketCap and counted roughly , confirming that trading activity, rather than protocol usage or TVL growth, drove the move.
Lookonchain (@lookonchain), which has 708,698 followers, documented both sides of the launch volatility. The on-chain desk tracked one wallet that turned $900 into approximately $251,270, while another trader’s $200,000 purchase fell to around $2,000 to $3,000.
Hunter Biden Laptop(@HunterBiden), who has 892,450 followers, denied that he or the project team sold their allocation. He stated that founder tokens remain locked and said, “I’m not going anywhere.”
Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal), who has 3,895,058 followers, highlighted the unequal outcomes and warned: “Be careful out there.” He noted that roughly four out of five buyers lost money.
CoinMarketCap recorded $0.7289 as LAPTOP’s key historical support level on September 10, 2026. The immediate historical resistance zone sits between $1.90 and $2.27, based on post-crash trading reported by The Defiant and BeInCrypto on September 9.
The next major historical level is $190 to $247, based on launch-hour pool activity on September 9. Those prices appeared when pools held limited depth and therefore do not represent comparable liquidity conditions. A short-term 14-period RSI calculation based on CoinMarketCap and GeckoTerminal price data sits at 8, indicating oversold conditions.

LAPTOP’s 30-day airdrop claim window closes around October 9, 2026, after which the project plans to burn unclaimed day-one tokens. The project also announced 4 million LAPTOP in Aerodrome liquidity incentives and proposed a separate 10 million-token burn through its predictions program.
However, thin liquidity, airdrop selling, market-maker inventory, copycat contracts, and the token’s lack of utility create continuing downside risks. Founder tokens remain locked until approximately March 2027.
