Steady attention without excessive speculation.
According to Plume, the group gathers feedback on the DTCC Tokenization Service. That service aims to bring assets already held at DTC on-chain. So membership hands Plume a seat where those standards get shaped.
Plume shared the update through its official account around 12:05 UTC. The team said it joined “industry leaders” already in the group. Then it pointed to its own compliance work as the reason it fits.
DTCC is the plumbing behind US markets. It provides custody and asset servicing for more than $114 trillion in assets. That scale is why a seat at its table carries weight.
The group exists to guide the tokenization service toward production. According to DTCC, members give feedback on design, workflows, and interoperability. In short, they help decide how tokenized securities will actually work.
DTCC detailed the group publicly on May 4, 2026. It started with more than 50 firms. By July 2026, the roster had grown past 100 members.
The early list read like a Wall Street guest book. BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and State Street all took part. Crypto-native names such as Circle and Ondo Finance joined too.
So the Plume DTCC working group blends TradFi giants with digital-asset firms. That mix is the point. DTCC wants both camps shaping the same rails.
The group builds on a December 2025 SEC No-Action Letter. That letter authorized DTC’s tokenization service within a defined scope. Since then, the timeline has moved quickly.
DTCC Working Group members and their roles in tokenized markets
Plume is a real-world asset chain built to tokenize off-chain value. Chris Yin co-founded it and serves as CEO. Its mainnet went live on June 5, 2025.
The project raised a $20 million Series A in December 2024. Backers included Brevan Howard Digital, Haun Ventures, and Galaxy. Since launch, it has chased RWA partnerships and compliance licenses.
Plume leans on one credential above the rest. In October 2025, it registered as an SEC transfer agent through Kimber Transfer Agency. That role lets it keep official ownership records for tokenized securities.
Transfer agents track who owns what. They also handle share transfers and corporate actions. On-chain, that job maps neatly onto tokenized assets.
Plume argues this makes it a natural fit for DTCC’s effort. Its records could, in theory, stay authoritative on-chain while remaining DTCC-compatible. For now, that remains a claim about capability, not a signed integration.
DTCC’s digital-asset build-out and Plume’s path to the industry working group
DTCC acquires institutional blockchain infrastructure provider Securrency and integrates it into the newly branded DTCC Digital Assets business.
The industry sandbox allows financial institutions and technology providers to test digital-asset use cases, interoperability and common institutional standards.
DTCC introduces infrastructure for creating, managing and monitoring tokenized assets while connecting blockchain activity with traditional custody and accounting systems.
DTCC demonstrates how tokenized collateral could move across fragmented traditional and decentralized financial systems using programmable blockchain infrastructure.
An SEC No-Action Letter allows DTC to offer a controlled tokenization service for eligible assets already held within its custody system.
More than 50 traditional-finance and digital-asset firms begin advising DTCC on technical workflows, interoperability, best practices and production readiness.
DTCC executes production transactions involving equities, ETFs, Treasuries, collateral and securities-lending workflows across multiple distributed-ledger environments.
Plume gains an advisory seat alongside Nasdaq, Charles Schwab, Alpaca and other firms helping shape DTCC’s tokenized-securities infrastructure.
A working-group seat is real, yet it is narrow. It grants input, not a partnership. It carries no voting rights, exclusivity, or revenue share that anyone has disclosed.
DTCC has not published its own statement naming Plume as a member. So the claim rests on Plume’s announcement and secondary coverage from outlets like CryptoBriefing. Readers should weigh it accordingly.
Some analysts also warn against overreading these announcements. Crypto projects often frame advisory membership as a deep tie. Here, the honest read is a seat at the standards table, nothing more.
Membership also does not make Plume a settlement layer for US securities. DTCC still runs that infrastructure. Plume simply gets to inform how tokens will interoperate with it.
The timing matters. On July 15, 2026, DTCC ran its first limited production tokenized trades. According to DTCC, those trades covered stocks, ETFs, Treasuries, and collateral workflows.
The trades ran across multiple chains, including Besu and Canton. DTCC plans a full commercial launch for October 2026. So Plume joins just weeks before the service goes live.
DTCC has framed the effort as a group project. “Innovation requires collaboration,” said Nadine Chakar, who leads DTCC Digital Assets. She said DTCC convened key participants to help design the service.
The token barely moved on the news. PLUME traded near $0.011 around the announcement, close to its August 5 level. That sits far below its 2025 high near $0.25.
Trading volume did tick up. One data source cited more than $12 million on August 6, above quieter prior days. Still, no clean price jump tied directly to the news.
On-chain, Plume stays small in DeFi terms. DefiLlama showed roughly $6.72 million in DeFi TVL in a recent snapshot. Its RWA figures run higher, tracked separately through protocols like Nest Credit.
The Plume DTCC working group role gives it influence, not control. The real test is whether that input turns into concrete integration. That answer will not arrive before the October launch.
For traders, the gap between narrative and on-chain scale is worth watching. Institutional validation is one thing. Sustained TVL and real tokenized volume are another. This article is not financial advice.
