25th November 2025 – A viral rumor suggesting Jackie Chan would portray Binance co-founder CZ Changpeng Zhao in a Netflix documentary has been officially debunked. CZ himself cleared the air on November 24, putting an end to the unexpected social media frenzy.
The joke started with a satirical post on X (formerly Twitter) by @doomerfied. This account is known for meme-style crypto content and tongue-in-cheek headlines. In this case, the post claimed that Jackie Chan would play CZ in a supposed Netflix biopic titled Crypto Kingpin.
The post featured two fake movie posters. One showed Chan in a suit with CZ’s face. The other resembled a dramatic documentary poster with the tagline, “The rise and fall of the world’s most powerful crypto exchange.” Though clearly edited, the visuals gave the rumor surprising traction.
Within hours, the post had 5,400 likes and nearly 750,000 views. Users joked about Chan’s age, he’s 71 and pointed out the unlikely casting to play the 48-year-old CZ. Still, the idea was amusing enough to spread quickly.
Several crypto-focused platforms added to the buzz. Binance Square, the company’s own community feed, reportedly reshared the claim. Sites like CryptoTimes published speculative articles without verifying the story. As a result, the joke quickly reached parts of the crypto community that missed the satirical context.
CZ jumped in later that evening. He replied directly to the original post with a clear denial and a light tone:
His response drew over 2,800 likes and quickly turned the discussion into a meme. Crypto fans appreciated the humor and the quick fact-check.
CZ also took the opportunity to remind followers about his upcoming memoir, which is still in the final editing phase. That book is expected in early 2026.
This episode highlights how AI-generated images, meme culture, and crypto’s fast-paced news cycle can create viral misinformation — even unintentionally. The Jackie Chan rumor caught fire not because it was believable, but because it was entertaining.
No such Netflix project exists. Jackie Chan’s team has no involvement. The fake news also echoed similar past moments in crypto, like fake Elon Musk endorsements or phony partnerships.
By November 25, outlets like Cointelegraph and ChainDesk had posted clear debunkings, ensuring the story didn’t linger as fact.
