Steady attention without excessive speculation.
28th April 2026- Gemini has launched a new feature called Agentic Trading that allows users to connect advanced AI models such as ChatGPT and Claude directly to their crypto trading accounts. The system runs on the Model Context Protocol, an open framework developed by Anthropic. As a result, users can now enable AI agents to monitor markets, analyze data, and execute trades automatically based on predefined rules.
Gemini positions this launch as the first time a regulated U.S. exchange has offered direct AI-to-account integration at this level. Therefore, the feature represents a major step toward fully autonomous crypto trading within a compliant framework.

GEMINI LAUNCHES 'AGENTIC TRADING' LETTING AI AGENTS MANAGE CRYPTO EXCHANGE ACCOUNTS
04:30 PM·Apr 27, 2026
The launch reflects the rapid growth of agentic AI, which refers to systems that go beyond answering queries and instead take real-world actions through APIs and tools. At the same time, crypto markets operate continuously and show high volatility, which creates demand for smarter automation tools.
To address this need, Gemini integrated its full trading API with MCP. Consequently, compatible AI models can securely access real-time data, execute trades, and manage positions without requiring users to write code. This approach aligns with a broader industry trend that aims to make advanced AI tools accessible to retail traders.
Although automated bots and API trading have existed for years, this implementation introduces a new layer. Specifically, general-purpose AI models like ChatGPT from OpenAI and Claude can now directly execute trades on a regulated exchange. Earlier systems relied on partial integrations or third-party tools, but they did not offer full execution within a compliant exchange environment.
Relative positioning against past updates or peers
Users begin by authorizing an AI model through Gemini’s secure MCP integration. Then, they define trading strategies using plain language. For example, they can set risk tolerance, entry and exit conditions, or portfolio rebalancing rules.
Once connected, the AI accesses three core trading functions. It retrieves real-time market data, identifies price spreads, and analyzes historical charts. After that, the model continuously monitors market conditions and executes trades automatically within the defined parameters.
Importantly, Gemini keeps user control at the center. Users can revoke access at any time, and the platform logs all actions for transparency and auditability.
This development could significantly lower the barrier to advanced trading strategies. Retail users no longer need coding skills or complex tools to deploy algorithmic strategies. As a result, participation in automated trading may expand quickly.
At the same time, Gemini strengthens its position in what many now call agentic finance. This could attract institutional interest toward regulated platforms that combine AI capabilities with compliance.
However, the rollout also raises several concerns. Traders may rely too heavily on AI decisions, which could increase systemic risks during volatile conditions. In addition, regulators may intensify scrutiny as AI begins to play an active role in financial execution rather than advisory functions.
