The update follows the rapid adoption of ERC-8004 after its mainnet deployment on Ethereum in late January 2026. Since then, thousands of AI agents have been registered across multiple chains including Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Avalanche, and BNB Chain. As adoption increased, developers and users began demanding better visibility into agent functionality and trust assumptions.
Etherscan responded by integrating proxy metadata parsing into its NFT interface, strengthening the Etherscan ERC-8004 experience for users. In addition, the platform highlights support for the x402 payment protocol. This allows users to verify whether an agent can handle autonomous micropayments through HTTP-based payment flows. As a result, users gain immediate clarity on whether an agent supports programmable, machine-to-machine transactions.
Etherscan also surfaces detailed information about services and endpoints. Users can view supported APIs, Agent-to-Agent communication protocols, Model Context Protocol endpoints, and other integration methods.
