Elon Musk has ignited fresh debate in both political and crypto circles after posting on X: “Fiat is hopeless. America Party will embrace Bitcoin.” The statement, brief but explosive, marks the clearest signal yet that Musk’s newly-formed political party will position itself as explicitly pro-Bitcoinn, and possibly pro-crypto more broadly.
The America Party, announced just days ago, emerged from Musk’s growing disillusionment with traditional politics. Initially a backer of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, Musk publicly broke ties over what he described as “fiscal irresponsibility” tied to the latest government spending package.
