DoubleZero Launches Edge for Real-Time Solana Shred Data

Steady attention without excessive speculation.

Background on DoubleZero and Solana networking

DoubleZero is a networking protocol introduced in 2025 to improve how data travels across the Solana blockchain. The project focuses on optimizing the propagation of “shreds,” which are small packets of data used by the Solana network to distribute blocks among validators.

Solana’s architecture allows extremely high transaction throughput, but efficient block propagation remains critical for maintaining performance across a globally distributed validator network.

Traditionally, Solana uses a protocol called Turbine to distribute shreds. While Turbine improves efficiency compared with simple broadcast methods, it can still create latency differences between participants.

DoubleZero aims to solve this problem by introducing multicast networking similar to systems used in traditional financial exchanges.

DoubleZero Launches Edge for real-time Solana data

The DoubleZero team Launched Edge as a multicast-powered data platform designed to deliver raw Solana shreds in real time to traders and validators.

Instead of sending data separately to each participant, multicast networking allows the same data stream to be delivered simultaneously to multiple subscribers. This reduces bandwidth requirements for senders and improves the speed at which participants receive information.

Through this system, validators connected to the network can publish shreds directly into the multicast stream while traders subscribe to receive the data with minimal latency.

The design aims to make market data access more equitable while increasing network efficiency.

Validator incentives and revenue model

A key component of the Edge platform is its new economic model for validators.

Validators participating in the system can earn revenue from publishing shreds into the multicast network. Traders who require faster access to data pay subscription fees for the low-latency feed. Revenue from these subscriptions is then shared among validators and integration partners.

DoubleZero has also announced that validators connected through the system will not be charged the traditional 5 percent block reward fee starting from Epoch 939. These incentives are intended to encourage more validators to connect to the multicast network and improve overall network performance.

How the DoubleZero Edge platform works

Validators connect to the Edge platform through a command-line interface that enables them to publish shreds to the multicast network. Once published, these shreds are transmitted simultaneously to subscribers through the fiber-based multicast infrastructure.

Traders subscribe to these data streams to gain faster access to network information, which can be particularly valuable in high-frequency trading environments. The system is designed to remove limitations associated with traditional shred distribution, allowing more participants to access the same data at similar speeds.

Role of the DoubleZero Delegation Program

DoubleZero has also introduced a validator incentive structure through its Delegation Program. The second phase of this program focuses on expanding validator participation in new geographic regions known as Ring 2 and Ring 3 zones.

Validators in these regions can receive additional staking delegations if they connect to the multicast network and contribute to the platform’s data infrastructure. The program aims to improve geographic decentralization while strengthening the overall network.
