September 12, 2025 — The Akash hardware verification upgrade is set to bring trusted CPU and GPU attestation to the decentralized cloud network. Providers will soon be able to prove their hardware configurations using industry-standard remote attestation protocols from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA, marking a major step toward Akash’s Confidential Computing vision.
The Akash hardware verification upgrade aims to increase trust across its decentralized platform. Providers will be able to present cryptographic “proofs” of their hardware identity and integrity, ensuring that workloads only run on verified infrastructure. This is a foundational requirement for Confidential Computing, where sensitive data and code remain protected from tampering.
The upgrade leverages the IETF’s Remote Attestation Procedures Architecture (RATS) standard (RFC 9334). At a high level:
This binary verdict — Attestation OK or Rejected — can unlock secrets, enable workloads, or block execution if trust cannot be established.
Together, these systems ensure end-to-end verification of both CPUs and GPUs in Akash’s provider clusters.
To adopt the Akash hardware verification framework, providers will need to:
The Akash hardware verification upgrade marks a pivotal advance for decentralized cloud credibility. By integrating hardware-level attestation from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA, Akash is moving closer to a fully trustless, Confidential Computing ecosystem, where sensitive data and workloads can operate securely in a decentralized environment.
