Dr.-Nicolas-Kokkalis

Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis is the co-founder and chief architect of Pi Network, a mobile-first cryptocurrency platform designed to make crypto mining accessible to everyday users. A Stanford Ph.D. in computer science with expertise in distributed systems and human-computer interaction, Kokkalis also taught Stanford’s first course on decentralized applications. Prior to Pi, he co-founded StartX, a Stanford-affiliated startup accelerator, and built viral social platforms.

Under his leadership, Pi Network launched in 2019 and has grown to over 50 million users globally. With its focus on low-energy mobile mining, strong identity verification, and decentralized trust, Kokkalis aims to democratize access to blockchain technology. He maintains a relatively low public profile but remains a central figure in shaping Pi’s vision of a more inclusive crypto economy.
