VanEck has announced it will close and liquidate its Ethereum Strategy ETF, listed on the CBOE. The ETF (ticker symbol ‘EFUT’) will stop trading on Sept. 16, with liquidation expected by Sept. 23. Shareholders still holding EFUT shares at the time of liquidation will receive a cash distribution based on the fund’s net asset value.
- The decision stems from VanEck’s routine evaluation of factors such as performance, liquidity, and investor interest.
- The closure follows the recent approval of a spot Ethereum exchange-traded product, potentially influencing the discontinuation of the futures-based ETF.
Investors may also receive any remaining net income or capital gains before the fund is dissolved. For tax purposes, VanEck will issue a final report detailing capital gains or losses at the end of the year. This move follows the liquidation of VanEck’s Bitcoin Strategy ETF earlier this year, citing similar reasons of performance and low investor interest.
