The UAE Ministry of Economy has announced that VeraViews, an innovative digital advertising platform, will be incorporated under the NextGen FDI initiative. VeraViews utilizes distributed ledger technology to verify advertising views, eliminate harmful content, and prevent ad scams through its proprietary Proof of View technology.
The company, currently in the beta phase for its video-ad-serving product, will establish its global headquarters in Dubai’s Media City. VeraViews aims to support the UAE’s efforts to regulate the growing complexity of the advertising ecosystem, ensuring that marketing budgets reach verified audiences via accredited agencies and publishers.
As part of the Ministry’s NextGen FDI programme, which offers companies fast-track incorporation, bulk visa issuance, and access to commercial real estate, VeraViews will contribute to making the UAE one of the safest digital advertising ecosystems globally. The platform’s blockchain-powered open-ledger system is designed to simplify the advertiser-publisher relationship while identifying and eliminating malicious actors.
Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, praised VeraViews’ potential to revolutionize the media sector. He highlighted the importance of creating a transparent and trustworthy advertising industry where businesses receive full value for their marketing investments.
VeraViews CEO, Mark Firth, expressed that the UAE’s dynamic media industry makes it the ideal location for the company’s global headquarters. He emphasized that VeraViews’ technology could add significant value to the region by reducing fraud and preventing misinformation.
The global digital advertising market is currently valued at over $550 billion, with the Middle East projected to reach $6.9 billion by the end of 2024. The UAE, the second-largest advertising market in the region, spent $1.8 billion on advertising in 2023.
