Ondo Finance has unveiled Ondo Global Markets (Ondo GM), a blockchain-powered platform designed to bring U.S. securities – such as stocks, bonds, and ETFs – onchain. The company aims to revolutionize financial markets by addressing inefficiencies in traditional investing, much like stablecoins did for U.S. dollars.
Tokenizing Financial Markets for Greater Accessibility
In a blog post, Ondo Finance highlighted the need for a more efficient and transparent investment ecosystem. The firm pointed to high fees, restricted access, transfer frictions, and platform fragmentation as barriers preventing investors from fully leveraging traditional financial markets.
Through Ondo GM, the firm will enable tokenized securities that track real-world assets 1:1. This includes exposure to over 1,000 securities listed on the NYSE and Nasdaq, featuring stocks from major companies like Apple, Tesla, and Uber, as well as equity and fixed-income ETFs.
A Global, 24/7 Investment Ecosystem
One of Ondo GM’s major selling points is its ability to provide continuous asset trading worldwide. The firm noted that Ondo GM tokens will be backed by the actual securities they track, ensuring a direct, blockchain-based link between traditional financial instruments and decentralized markets.
The platform’s launch follows extensive discussions between Ondo Finance, traditional finance institutions, blockchain developers, and government officials, underscoring a growing demand for seamless, onchain access to securities markets.
By tokenizing financial assets, Ondo Finance seeks to democratize investing, offering a borderless, efficient, and more inclusive trading experience for global investors.
